Love shrimp but would like a new way to eat them?
Try some of these recipes we enjoy!
Our shrimp need very little prepwork! We always suggest cooking the shrimp with the HEAD ON to add that great, sweet flavor into the meat. There is no need to devein or peel our shrimp! Our shrimp naturally molt every three to five days, so their shells are very thin! They do not need the hard shell for protection, like they would in the wild, and there is no toxins or pollutants to increase the thickness. The other beneficial, easy prepwork step, no deveining! We only started deveining shrimp in the 1930's because we found Mercury in the shrimp. Because we have no antibiotics, hormones, toxins, or pollutants, there is no need to devein! What doesn't cook itself out (which is most of it!) will be fine to eat! There will only be baking soda, salt, and protein!
Fresh shrimp that has not been cooked is very perishable.
Shrimp should be used within two days of purchase to ensure optimal taste
2 days with the head on, additional 2 days with the head off
Store fresh shrimp that will not be cooked immediately in the coolest area of the refrigerator, preferably on ice and covered with wax paper
Using wax paper it allows air to circulate around the shrimp
Cooked shrimp that is stored in the refrigerator should be eaten within
2-3 days
Frozen shrimp, if packed tightly, will last up to 6 months in most
household freezers
You CANNOT freeze a shrimp with the head on! Remove the head before freezing shrimp
Shrimp that is frozen tends to lose texture and flavor
You can cook a shrimp at a "half boil" (about 5-7 minutes) to get some of the flavor of the head before freezing it
Remember to remove the head before putting it in the freezer!
Once defrosted, shrimp should be kept refrigerated and used within 3
days
Once defrosted, do not refreeze shrimp
